The Hyperloop is a conceptual high-speed transportation system found by Elon Musk, incorporating reduced pressure tubes in which pressurized capsules ride on an air cushion driven by liner induction motors and air compressors. Elon Musk has previously sculpted out visions for the future of online payment, solar power, electric cars and space launches with his companies PayPal, Solar city, Tesla and SpaceX. Next year, he will effort to make his make on public transport, testing prototypes of a system called the Hyperloop.
Musk 1st mentioned the idea in public in 2012. It feature passenger pods that rush through a series of low-pressure tubes at about 1100 kilometres an hour, riding on a cushion of air rather than wheels and bearing. The 28 person pods are accelerated up to their maximum speed using a series of magnets.
Around in the month of June Next year, on a 2 kilometre test track next to its head office in Hawthorne, California, Musk’s SpaceX plans to run a competition to test our different Pod designs from students and independent engineers.
The company says it isn’t construction any Hyperloop hardware itself, but rather supporting other companies and start-ups. One company, called Hyperloop transportations Technologies, plans to buils its own 8kilometer test track in California.
The tests will be the first steps towards a completely new kind of transport. In his 2013 white paper, Musk estimated that the Hyperloop would use far less energy than existing transport systems: roughly 10 times less than cars or planes for a given journey.
Musk also approximate that Hyperloop pods would be able to travel the 550 kilometres between Los Angeles and San Francisco in just 35 minutes. London to Paris would take 21 minutes. Take that, Eurostar.
