1st Quarter Final of World Cup 2015: South Africa Vs Sri Lanka:
ICC world cup 2015 first quarter final South Africa won by 9 wickets against Sri Lanka and reached to semi finals. This match was played on the historical ground Sydney, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. South Africa bowler has proved them wrong decision and whole team got wind up on just 133 runs in 37.2 over. In response South African team just lost one wicket and achieved the target in 18 over. With this lost it became the last world cup for Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. Imran Tahir, who took four wickets, won the man of the Match award.
Opting to first bat after winning the toss, Sri Lanka’s started extremely poor and on the four runs they lost both the opener. After that Lhiru Thirimane came on batting and started to make fast run to overcome from the initial shock and he got out on 41 runs in 48 balls. Imran Tahir took his wicket.
After losing three wickets Mahela Jayawardene (4 runs) came for batting and he got out on Imran Tahir’s bowling as fourth wickets. After that Angelo Mathews (19 Runs) got out as fifth wickets. Parrera (0 Run) also got out on Imran Tahir’s bowling. Then Duminy got wicket of Nuwan Kulasekara (1 Run) & Thatindu Kushal (0 Run) and completed his over hat-trick. He dismissed Mathews in the past ball of the previous over. He became the first South African to take Hat-trick in the ICC world Cup history. However, one by one they lost all the wickets and Kumar Sangakkara (45 Runs) got out as ninth wicket by scoring the highest run in the innings and Imran Tahir took Lasith Malinga (3 Runs) as a last wicket.
In the response South Africa just lost one Wicket. South African Opener Hashim Amla (16 Run) got out on Lasith Malinga’s over. After that Du Plessey (21 Runs) and Opener Quinton (78 Runs) got the target in 18 over and took South Africa in the Semi final of the ICC world Cup 2015.
