Henry Smolinski invented a “Flying Car” which was really just the rear end of a Cessna Skymaster airplane with a Ford Pinto. During the first test run in 1973, Smolinski and his co-pilot died in the crash when the rear detached from the car.

William Bullock invented the rotary printing press, which speed up the printing process. In 1867.while trying to fix his invention, Bullock kicked the machine to get a part in place. Instead of moving the part, it crushed his leg, which turned gangrene. He died during an operation to remove the leg.

The inventor of leaded petrol and CFC contracted poliomyelitis in 1940 at the age of 51, ultimately putting him in a wheelchair. Thomas Midgely developed a pulley system and strings to help bed-ridden patients reach and grab things around them. In 1944, he was killed when the system strangled him when he was caught inside of it.

Franz Reichelt was an Austrian born French inventor who made a living as a tailor but spent his free time working on a flying parachute suit designed to be worn by airplane pilots. He attempted to use his coat parachute invention to jump off the Eiffel Tower. He told authorities that he would test the suit with it himself. He fell to his death from first deck of Eiffel Tower after the coat failed to operate as expected.

Although his motives for experimenting with blood transfusion were centred on achieving eternal youth and reversing the aging process, he is still credited with scientific advancements in the filed.However, Bogdanov died after he took the blood of student who had both malaria and tuberculosis.
